I have made some great progress over the past week within my beat report.
Overview: My first beat report, in the beat of local lifestyle, will be on the Stock & Grain Food Hall Assembly, located in Downtown High Point. The reason I decided to focus on this particular subject is due to the growth and revitalization of downtown High Point. Stock & Grain has been the ‘hot topic’ of downtown's newest additions.
I spent my Saturday afternoon/evening at the food hall. It was a very crowded night because of the High Point Rockers baseball game, which allowed me to introduce myself, as a reporter to the community, and make more connections. I also did this to become more comfortable with the place and develop a deeper an understanding of everything that goes on here, especially on a busy night. I made myself familiar with all of the food stands and enjoyed the entertainment that night, as well. I even tried a sushi bowl from Yumi and a box of mini doughnuts from Pops.
My goal for this upcoming week is to set up definite interview days and times for the assignment. Also this week, I want to try to finish up my full beat report notes with all the research I found and the information that I have so far. Luckily, showing my face and introducing myself over the weekend has made a solidified impression on the community of Stock & Grain to help make this beat report story as successful as possible.
