Week 5 (9/24) Update:
This week for my first beat story, I continued editing together all of my b-roll from the past weekend and wrote more of the script. I also finalized writing out all of my interview questions for Elizabeth Yocum (Stock and Grains Community Events Manager). I also was in contact with her, via email, about setting up our time to meet for her interview. We established it for 1:45 p.m. tomorrow (Monday the 25th). From here, I will be taking her soundbites and adding the best ones into my script, then editing the rest of my b-roll with the soundbites. From there, I will be finished with my first beat report.
I also went ahead this week to start searching for my second beat story topic. I checked all of my “go-to” credible website sources for the latest news, and what stood out to me the most was The Congdon Yards TAG Art Exhibit. Outside of class time, I furthered my research about this venue and event. The Congdon Yards is a new community center located in the heart of downtown High Point. Congdon Yards was built by and for the High Point community. The purpose of renovating this factory building was to serve as a spot for the community to come together for a variety of events. The Congdon Yards has over seven buildings inside used as exhibits, restaurants, event venues, office spaces, etc. The focus of this story, for timely purposes, will focus on the TAG art exhibit that is being hosted here from September until the end of October. Throughout the next week, I will continue to dig deeper and develop the possibilities of this next story. After that, I will begin to make connections with sources and contacts at the Congdon Yards and The Art Exhibit, and set up times to talk with them as well as going on my own time to the exhibit to learn more in person.
